“KamAZ” announced the launch of Russia’s unmanned buses that are managed using a mobile app
“KAMAZ” presented a prototype of a van with a system of Autonomous control, called “SHUTTLE”. Premiere of the concept car was held in the framework of the Moscow motor show. According to the company, the first unmanned buses should go on the Russian roads by 2018.
On the project of unmanned public transport, “KAMAZ” works together with specialists of “US” and company “Yandex”, responsible for the provision of data about the infrastructure. Minibus for 12 passengers, are considered as alternatives to traditional multiple buses running drivers” that run on a strictly specified routes.
The path of movement of the Shuttle” will be calculated in real time depending on the specific destination of passengers. “Fellowship” people with a system of Autonomous control is via a mobile app, which allows you to specify the point of final destination.
KAMAZ noted that in Russia there is no legal framework authorizing the movement of vehicles with autopilot on public roads. Therefore, it is assumed that the first unmanned buses will be used in closed areas, airports, Convention centers, business parks and Museum complexes.
24 August “KAMAZ” and “Yandex” has signed an agreement, under which the search engine developed for cars of the group system based on artificial intelligence. In particular, “Yandex” will create high-precision maps and services to assist the driver in driving. In addition, for artificial intelligence is developing a “moral criteria” that will help the autopilot to determine the best options for action in extreme situations.
In October 2015, “KAMAZ” has publicly presented the first unmanned truck domestic production, developed in collaboration with the Cognitive Technologies. It is assumed that the mass production of Autonomous Trucks will start in 2022.
