MIA buys 9000 domestic computers processors “Baikal-T1”
The Ministry of internal Affairs (MIA) 9348 buys Russian computers costing 357 million rubles, follows from the documentation of the electronic auction. The Agency plans to take the theoretical exams for driver’s license in the domestic PC processors “Baikal-T1”.
As reported by “Vedomosti”, the auction was attended by only “T-platforms”, a subsidiary of which company “Baikal electronics”, and developed the eponymous processor. Since the party was only one, the auction was recognized invalid, but from the announcement it follows that the interior Ministry intends to conclude a contract with “T-platforms”. The contract is not signed yet. It is the largest supply of chips “Baikal-T1”, said the representative of “Baikal electronics” Andrey Malafeev.
Company “Baikal electronics” has released an engineering sample of the processor “Baikal-T1” in may last year. The processor is designed in Russia, but made in the factory of TSMC in Taiwan.
The company expects that the processor will come in handy in telekomstrojj and industrial applications – for example, in numerical control systems for machine tools, routers, office equipment, multimedia centers, as well as for “thin clients”. About the creation of the personal computer, this processor “T-platforms” announced in February of this year. The computer is called “Meadowsweet” and is a 21.5-inch AIO PC running the Linux operating system.
The device with built-in screen with a diagonal of 21.5 inch, resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels and IPS can connect as a standard Gigabit Ethernet network, built on technology 1000BASE-T and fiber optic network.
The new device can be used as a workstation running Linux Debian 8 and also as a “thin client” in the terminal mode. In the first embodiment, the computer may be equipped with any Linux-compatible application programs, such as the office Suite LibreOffice, Firefox etc.
Malafeev from “Baikal electronics” did not disclose the amount of sold chips. According to him, commercial party “Baykal-T1” arrived in September of this year, before the company offered to potential customers engineering samples. Now processor interested in about 150 Russian and foreign customers, which have signed cooperation agreements, he said.
Each computer that is now provided by the Ministry of interior, needs to be produced in Russia. The size of the RAM more than 2 GB. To deliver them in eight regions: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-don, Ekaterinburg, Samara, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Khabarovsk. The Moscow division will take the first 477 computers until April 1, 2017, and the rest should arrive before 1 July of the following year, the documentation should be MIA.
