Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov acknowledged that a complete replacement of foreign BY Russian software in the public authorities is not yet possible. Thus he commented on the publication of the Western media about the plans to replace Microsoft Windows.
According to the representative of the Kremlin, work on the creation of domestic software is. “But there is an understanding that, of course, the use of domestic software may where he advanced to an adequate degree, that is where it is comparable with foreign analogues”, — said Peskov.

Earlier, broadcaster NBC, citing sources in the American intelligence reported that the Russian government wants to get rid of Western software, including products from Microsoft, replacing the soft domestic. It is noted that Russia takes similar steps to reduce dependence on foreign holders of the software to reduce the sanctions risk and enhance protection from hacker attacks.
In November 2015, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree according to which from January 1, 2016, state agencies are required to purchase special software from the national registry. To buy foreign products, they can only in the absence of Russian counterparts, and representatives of the agencies need to write a justification for the purchase of Western software.
