The Director of the FSB of Russia said that Pavel Durov did not understand the importance of helping in the fight against terrorism
At the meeting of heads of special services, security agencies and law enforcement bodies of foreign States, the head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov commented on a Telegram lock.
According to Bortnikov, “the owners of the company do not understand the value of helping in the fight against terrorism.” Pavel Durov has not yet commented on this statement.
“I would like to say that the situation is difficult from the point of view of understanding the owner of the company necessary to assist agencies struggling with terrorism,” — said the Director of FSB of Russia Alexander Bortnikov.
The head of the FSB believes this problem concerns not only Russia, but also special services of other States.
“Everything that happens in the closed part, not always, becomes the property of special services”, – he explained. We need to continue this work to find consensus and understanding of the parties in order to assist in security issues,” — said Bortnikov.
Asked by journalists about the situation with Viber and WhatsApp, Bortnikov said that with them, the FSB has similar problems.
“As for those companies you named, where there is a possibility where-that it is not”, — concluded the head of the FSB.
Telegram is blocked in Russia from the 16th of April 2018. However, the messenger is working steadily without Proxy and VPN services.
