Announced HDMI cables USB-C to HDMI for 4K monitors and TVs

The organization of HDMI Licensing announced the preparation of the HDMI specification Alternate Mode. The development will allow to connect monitors and TVs with HDMI interfaces directly to the USB connectors.

The specification calls for the ability of the image output to HDMI devices with computers that have USB ports a-C directly, without any adapters. Now to connect the monitor to the 12-inch MacBook required “Multiport digital AV adapter USB-C”, the cost of which is 6 990 rubles.

Specification HDMI Alternate Mode for USB Type-C involves production of cables with connector USB-C on one side and HDMI on the other. Thus, the need to use costly adapters is eliminated. Specification is based on the HDMI 1.4 b standard, meaning support for 4K resolution video and 3D content.
