Apple is ahead of Samsung as the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer
Global smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2016 increased by 9% and reached a record volume in 438,7 million units, according to analytical company Strategy Analytics. For the period, Apple managed to surpass Samsung and become the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer.
In the last quarter of the mobile industry showed the highest growth rate in 2016. The rise became possible due to strengthening of demand in major emerging markets such as China and Africa.

Both companies in the past year have worsened their result in comparison with 2015. Samsung has sold 10.3 million smartphones less, and 16.1 million units.
Huawei remained in third place, but experts draw attention to the fact that in the final quarter of the year, the share of the Chinese vendor’s global smartphone market for the first time exceeded 10%. In the last quarter, the company produced 44.9 million and for the year as a whole — 138,8 million units, or 9.3% of world result. The rating is closed by two representatives of the PRC — Oppo and Vivo.
By the end of 2016, manufacturers have released of 1.49 billion smartphones against 1.44 billion in 2015.
