Apple Pay will work in Russia in the near future
Russian retailer Azbuka Vkusa” together with Sberbank started to implement purchases through a fingerprint. Until the end of 2016, the project will work in test mode, reports “Kommersant” with reference to the hea d of the network of Vladimir Sadovina. According to network sources, the launch of this project gives the go-ahead payment service Apple Pay.
Now the supermarket is located at the address Nakhimovsky Prospekt, 61, it is possible to pay for purchases, putting a finger to a special POS terminal with integrated biometric scanner.
For payment it is enough to go through a short registration procedure at the checkout of a supermarket and spinning through the POS terminal prints of any two fingers to the credit card VISA or MasterCard. After connecting the service and bind the Bank card technology allows you to make purchases using fingerprint without presenting a credit card. Of course, nothing prevents the client to continue to pay off the cards, if necessary.
“Our project with the “ABC of taste” — the first biometric project in the Russian retail” — said the Director of the office of merchant acquiring Sberbank Svetlana Kirsanova.
The project participants do not keep biometric data of the customers: after scanning, the fingerprint is converted into a unique set of numeric codes. Each code is assigned an ID in a separate database tied to a presented at check-in credit card.
This story has a very interesting implication. To go into details will not work, but this project was waiting for Apple to launch its payment system. According to Bankir, country’s largest Bank did not give the nod to starting services Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, until mastered and not to launch its biometric service. Now, when the premiere took place, the barriers to the emergence in Russia of new ways of contactless payments left. Official announcements are expected in the coming days.
About the upcoming launch of Apple Pay in Russia it became known in early September. Apple says that the service will work in the fall, it will be the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
