As we “covered” the whole office good wifi
What question do you ask the waiter in a café after “your menu”? That’s right, “what’s the Wi-Fi password”. However, wifi needs to be good not only in public places but also at home. No matter how good the router was, “dead zone” in the Wi-Fi network formed still: interior walls, long distances — all this prevents the signal to reach your device, so Internet speed on distance from the router is not as impressive.
The solution to this is relevant to many problems came up a long time amplifiers the wireless signal. One such device from the company TP-Link has been in our office, and we decided to test it in combat conditions.
At our office, though small, but has a few areas that are separated from each other by tens of meters. So often the wireless network connection disappears if you move away from the router too far. The fact that the router we are using AirPort Extreme, does not help — the signal is still “not seeking” to certain parts of the office or the quality of the Internet leaves much to be desired.
Booster installation Wi-Fi suggests itself, and here we were in the hands of RE350. Why is it? First, this device operates at 2.4 GHz (speed up to 300 Mbps) and 5 GHz (speed up to 867 Mbps) and the network in the Studio where we record the news of Apple and other videos, just works on 5 GHz. Secondly, this amplifier works with any Wi-Fi router or access point and AirPort Extreme is compatible, not all. In General, the main criterion for choosing these devices was the availability of quality applications for iOS.
The packaging is obviously stylized Apple devices: white box, where we found the device itself RE350 Ethernet cable (RJ-45) and quick installation guide.
The amplifier looks very interesting — in front panel big button with light indicator around the loop, which will allow you to find the best location for placement of the device, and three LEDs, indicating the operation of the network 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and, in fact, the device.
Button — the button RE (Range Extender) button, Reset button, LED button On/off.Off.
Effective Wi-Fi coverage is carried out by two external antennas with high gain, and connect the device as a wireless network (actually included it in the socket, and everything works), and with a Gigabit Ethernet port for network connection wired devices with Gigabit speed.
Go directly to the connection. In our case, we just plugged in the socket RE350 close to the AirPort Extreme, connecting with their new Wi-Fi network and started the setup. You may enter the special address in the browser bar.
The amplifier will automatically scan the space for networking 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz — it “found” even Studio network with a weak signal.
As soon as the device reconnects to the network, you can complete the setup.
Later on this same page you can track the status of your Internet connection, the work of the networks of connected clients. We have, as you can see in the screenshot below, stopped working one of the two wireless frequencies of the router, but RE350 still have established stable wireless coverage in two bands.
Amp supports standards and protocols IEEE802.11ac, IEEE 802.11 n, IEEE 802.11 g, IEEE 802.11 b supports wireless security (64/128-bit WEP, WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK) and can work not only as a signal amplifier, but also as an access point.
Using the Tether app on the iPhone, you can control the router right from your smartphone — to view the status, a list of connected gadgets, you can manage advanced settings. For example, you can configure disabling the lights at night, so they are not annoyed, to block the client or to enter into quick setup.
Most importantly, we have achieved the desired goal — now a steady Wi-Fi signal covers all the office premises is (sorry) even in the toilet, something that was lacking. For small offices and large homes and apartments is definitely a must-have.
Even more encouraging is the recommended retail price of the devices — 4 650 rubles. To see the amplifier and you can buy it at the point of sale TP-Link, the link can be found here.
