Co-author of the bill Spring invited the operators to prove the growth rates due to the adoption of the law
The Federation Council (SF) can change the “Spring package” if the cellular operators to justify rate increases. This was stated by Senator Viktor Ozerov, one of the initiators of the resonance bill.
“If the operators will objectively prove that users of cellular communication and the Internet, faces significant, several times higher tariffs, the Federation Council will return to this provision of the law and, if necessary, make changes to it,” said Viktor Ozerov, Federation Council member.
Earlier it became known that the mobile operators do not exclude growth of prices for communication services 2-3 times because of the costs that they incur after the package of anti-terrorism laws Deputy Irina Yarovaya and Senator Viktor Ozerov.
According to the representative of Tele2 Konstantin Prokshin, prices of cell phones may increase for all subscribers as a result of compliance with the new standards. “In the case of the amendments to the tariffs of operators will grow about three times,” affirmed the head of the press service of “MegaFon” Julia Dorokhin. The company also warned that the communication quality becomes worse.
The document obliges operators for 3 years to store information about calls, messages, photos, audio and video files. Within six months, data will be stored about the content of the conversations and correspondence.
The state Duma adopted the anti-terrorism package on June 24, Monday it was approved by the Federation Council. Operators repeatedly stressed that the storage of such large volumes of information will lead to a huge cost of network upgrades, data warehousing, etc. They called the amount of 2.2 trillion rubles.
Viktor Ozerov called these statements operators “emotional and not substantiated by calculations.” He noted that the law will come into force from 1 July 2018, but because currently there are no legal grounds” to talk about raising rates.
During the discussion of amendments in the Federation Council Ozerov admitted that he did not know about the existence in Russia operator Tele2. He also could not answer the question of colleagues about the estimated costs of companies to fulfill the requirements.
