How to remove orphaned notification in the dock of macOS

Sometimes the red circles with notifications in the dock of macOS do not disappear, even if their view. Tell how to get rid of them.

Takedown notices themselves are certainly very useful, but only when they are working properly. Unfortunately, sometimes remain phantom alerts that remain visible even if you close the app or make it some changes.

In particular, this may occur in the program iMessage after sending a message to yourself.

A similar problem faced by many Mac users and all of them advised to restart the dock.

To hide the phantom update, you need to:

  • Start the Terminal application.
  • Enter the command killall Dock.

This command will kill the dock and restart it, simultaneously correcting all errors, including hovering alert. In the same way you fix incorrectly displayed icons.

If this does not work, you should try to send myself a message from iPhone to Mac and from Mac to iPhone. At least one of the users helped only this method.
