PC manufacturers are preparing touchpads with fingerprint scanner on the background of rumors about Touch ID in the new MacBook Pro

Synaptics in the framework of the exhibition Computex 2016 in Taiwan has presented a solution for biometric user identification. We are talking about a compact module containing an integrated fingerprint sensor.

Secure login using Touch ID will become one of the main innovations of the next generation MacBook Pro. On iPhone and iPad fingerprint scanner integrated into the Home button. How Apple implements the technology in their laptops, is still unknown.

Development of the company Synaptics is compatible with the authentication system Windows Hello, using biometric principles. The feature of the solution is that the biometric module can be placed under the glass touchpad of the portable computer, and its small dimensions ensure ease of use. The solution is designed to ensure reliable identification of users by fingerprints.

Synaptics intends to license the product design to third-party manufacturers. So laptops with fingerprint modules will be massively appear in the market under different brands.

Delivery of samples submitted solutions will begin in the third quarter, and mass production is scheduled for late 2016. At the same time it is expected to launch a new generation MacBook Pro with the scanner Touch ID.
