Samsung officially presented smart watches Gear S3 with built-in LTE and GPS [video]

At the IFA exhibition in 2016 in Berlin, Samsung unveiled a new smart watch Gear S3. During the presentation, the company representatives told about the main advantages of the device and shared its characteristics.

Gear S3 will be released in addition to the Gear S2. Last year the watch will receive the OS update and will continue to be sold along with the product. The new model is noticeably larger than the predecessor. And Classic models, and Frontier, namely the so-called version Gear S3, got a case diameter of 46 mm, at the time, as Gear S2, depending on the version, this parameter is 40 or 42 mm. In the first model, applied stainless steel polished to a silver Shine, while in the second the case is made of matte black plastic and gives more sporting spirit.

Classic and Frontier is equipped with a Super AMOLED display diagonal of 1.3 inches with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, Exynos processor, 768 MB RAM, 4 GB flash memory, GPS module and a battery capacity of 380 mAh, which is claimed to provide 3-4 days of active use. In the new there is even a speakers, versions with LTE support will be available later.

When the charge drops to 5%, Gear S3 is transferred to the mode “only watch” appears in the display the time indicator. In this mode, you can expect another day of work. A similar mode of operation is provided in the Apple Watch.

Screen Gear S3 is covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass SR+ and boasts a feature Always On Display in full color. The device works under control of operating system Tizen.

Samsung has retained the main features of the model — rotating bezel used as a control. Also, both versions are protected from water (IP68), equipped with sensors heart rate and support payment service Samsung Pay, but only via NFC.

In selling Gear S3 will be in October this year. It is known that the cost of modification of the Classic will be $300.
