The FAS began checking Russian retailers Apple

When on sale new iPhones, observant buyers pay attention to the fact that at the initial stage the price of the smartphone in the Russian retail do not differ. Recently this fact has interested the Federal Antimonopoly service, which has declared the beginning of check of retailers on suspicion of cartel activity.

As informs “Interfax”, the review started at the request of “private person”. Very quickly it was established that at the time of the start of sales price of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in the Russian retail networks differed from each other a maximum of 9 rubles. This could not fail to arouse suspicion that the retailers did not pricing yourself.

In the end, it was decided to initiate check 16 retail networks, including Svyaznoy, Eldorado, Technosila, Euroset, “Mobilend”, “Beeline”, re:Store and The test also exposed the official representative of Apple in Russia, which in a press release dated September 28, 2015 published the same prices for the new iPhones that were specified in the price lists official Resellers.

An interesting fact is that the coincidence in the prices of retailers were observed despite the fact that the products procured from different suppliers. The majority of retail networks in Russia gets official iPhone distributors, meanwhile, Svyaznoy, re:Store and other companies have direct contracts with “Apple Rus”.

In a press-service “Coherent”, we were informed that no signals from the FAS has not yet been received, and explained how a price on smartphones Apple in this trade network:

“Prices for the entire range of retailer influenced by various factors. There is the purchase price at which the retailer receives the device from the manufacturer or wholesale partner. Also each retailer has the estimated margins on different groups of products and different brands. The margin depends on how the retailer can maintain its operating performance to ensure the delivery of the goods, the sellers ‘ work, and to support the work of retail stores, etc. Given their costs and the purchase price, the retailer determines in which interval the final price of an item can be set. At the same time, determining the retail price finally, it takes into account a lot of factors and first of all the market situation in each city and region of presence.”

If the fact of a cartel is confirmed, the retailers may face serious penalties. In particular, we are talking about paying from 1 to 15 percent of the proceeds from the sale of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in 2015. By the way, the FAS already has a successful experience of similar proceedings. For example, the audit of 2011 has been proven price fixing between operators MTS and “Beeline” in the sale of the iPhone 4. Then the defendants were ordered to pay fines of 16 and 18 million rubles, respectively, although their guilt, they did not recognize.
