The largest banks of Australia demanded that Apple preinstall on the iPhone their own mobile wallets
The largest banks of Australia filed antitrust regulator the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) joint application for approval of negotiations with Apple to install on their own iPhone applications for online payment. The statement was signed by National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Westpac Banking.
This was the first such challenge Apple by banking organizations. The iPhone maker has its own payment service Apple Pay and it does not allow third parties to install their own applications. Samsung and Google also have a similar system of electronic payment Samsung Pay, and Android Pay, but allowed third-party applications.
Australia and New Zealand Bank was the only major Bank in the country which has not acceded to the application: the Bank signed agreements on the use of Apple Pay in April.
Payment service Apple Pay is already available in nine countries, including the USA, China, UK, Canada, Singapore and Australia. Last week the company decided to attract customers to the system Pay Apple, offering everyone a iTunes gift card in denominations of $5. At the same time to obtain the money will only be possible after making a purchase with Apple Pay in the company store of the company.
Payment system Apple Pay can earn in Russia until the end of this year. Presumably, the Russian subsidiary of the IT giant is already in talks with major credit institutions on the implementation of its contactless payment technology. Among them — Sberbank, VTB24, Raiffeisenbank, Alfa Bank.
