The release of the Tor Browser 6.0 with support for OS X Gatekeeper
Despite the vulnerabilities that are actively exploited security services, the Tor browser continues to be one of the most popular means to achieve anonymity in the Network and access restricted resources. The creators of the popular programs today announced the release of a major update, which presents about 50 improvements.
Tor Browser 6.0 is notable for the fact that it is based on 45 Firefox-ESR. For the user this means native support for HTML5 for viewing YouTube videos. Also for the new version of the browser claimed to support Gatekeeper: now on computers with OS X will no longer be a warning that the app was released by an unknown developer, and Tor will start automatically.
Additionally, by default, disabled a few functions that you can use to obtain information about the user and simplifying its identification. In particular, disabled MediaDevices.enumerateDevices, HTTP Alternative-Services, Selfsupport and Unified Telemetry, Pocket, etc.
In order that during the installation of Tor Browser attackers could not replace library, new Tor now checks not only the signature but also the checksum of the downloaded updates.
