Apple praised Russia for doubling sales
Announcing financial results for the second quarter of 2016 Apple said the doubling of sales in Russia. This was stated Luca Maestri, chief financial officer and senior Vice President of the company during a telephone call on the financial results of the company.
“Revenue for the quarter amounted to 42.4 billion U.S. dollars, compared with 49.6 billion dollars in the same period last year, in line with our more optimistic forecasts. In the beginning of the quarter demand for products and services among customers has exceeded our expectations largely due to international indicators. Revenues reached a historic high for the quarter in Japan, we also saw significant growth in other important markets, including Russia, Brazil, Turkey, India and Canada.”
According to Maestri, sales in Russia increased more than twice in a year.
“We have experienced steady growth in many international markets. In Russia sales increased more than twice compared to the same period of 2015, double-digit growth was also recorded in Japan, Brazil, India, Canada and Sweden.”
Tim cook, Apple’s CEO (that gives the opportunity to predict a strong quarter in September):
“We draw conclusions from the previous quarter, where many signs point to future growth. Luke has mentioned a few countries where we have recorded a twofold increase in quarterly sales from Japan, to Brazil and India, and in some countries the figures were even more impressive, for example, in Russia. Thus, many countries have indicated good growth in the future”.
Luca Maestri noted the interest of Russian companies in Apple technology. In particular, in April, Sberbank has purchased nearly 22 000 tablets iPad.
“We continue to demonstrate strong performance in the tablet computer market segment, in terms of market share and user engagement. A good example is the recent deal with Sberbank, the largest Russian Bank, which also purchased over 22,000 iPad to the 10 thousand that were purchased last year, with the aim of increasing mobility within the organization and to provide employee opportunities for more interactive and effective interaction with customers.”
