Found a hole in Bluetooth, which allows you to hack the device with the operating system Apple and Microsoft

Researchers at Boston University have discovered a serious vulnerability in the Bluetooth communication protocol in Apple and Microsoft gadgets that allows attackers to track and identify devices. Vulnerabilities are subject to Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, as well as Microsoft tablets and laptops. Devices running Android are not affected.

Gadgets use public Bluetooth advertising channels to announce their presence to other devices. For security, most of them broadcast a random address that changes periodically. The researchers found that this information is enough to extract identifying tokens that allow you to track the device even after changing a random address.

The algorithm does not require decrypting messages or violating the security of the Bluetooth protocol, since it is completely based on public unencrypted advertising traffic.

Devices running iOS or macOS have two identifying tokens that change at different intervals. On …

Apple clips nominated for an Emmy

Two commercials made by the TBWA advertising agency for Apple are nominated for an Emmy Award in the category “Outstanding Advertising” – “Behind Mac – Make something wonderful” and “Shot on iPhone XS – Don’t mess with mother”.

“Don’t mess with mother” was filmed on the iPhone XS in honor of Earth Day and shows amazing wilderness scenes. The second video tells about famous musicians who use Mac to create music.

Only five videos claim the award "Outstanding Advertising". Other nominees in this category are Nike and Netflix. Apple has a big chance of winning.

In 2019, the 71st Emmy ceremony will be held on September 14th.

iPad can be turned into a Touch Bar for any Apple computer.

Good news for owners of Apple computers without Touch Bar: in macOS Catalina, Apple added the ability to use the iPad as a touchpad.

The new Sidecar feature allows you to connect your iPad to your Mac either wiredly or wirelessly. The input device is supported by the Apple Pencil.

In macOS-applications with support for the touch panel, the controls are displayed at the bottom of the iPad screen, replacing the Touch Bar, which is in some models of MacBook Pro.

Sidecar feature is available on all MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac since 2015 release, as well as on Mac mini since 2014 and Mac Pro since 2013 release.

Apple can split iTunes into a podcast app and Apple Music

According to the developer Steve Trouton-Smith, with the release of the new macOS 10.15, the Cupertin players can release separate applications for music and podcasts.

In his Twitter account, Trouton-Smith said that Apple is working on new applications Music, Podcasts and Books for macOS based on UIKit. Most likely this means that the company is going to share iTunes for Mac, where all the podcasts, music, movies and TV shows are currently located.

Earlier, Troughton-Smith had already shared Apple’s plans, based on his predictions of studying the code of current OS versions, and later they were confirmed.

Sharing iTunes can be one of Apple’s first steps towards creating cross-platform apps on iOS and Mac.

Apple is expected to introduce macOS 10.15 along with iOS 13 at WWDC 2019, which starts June 3.

What will the next iPhone

Since the beginning of the year, Apple managed to hold spring and summer presentations at which new services of the company, operating systems and hardware innovations were announced – in particular, super-power and terribly expensive Mac Pro. Since mid-March, Apple has improved a number of other products: iPad Air, iPad mini, AirPods, iMac, MacBook Pro.

Traditionally, for the second half of the year, Apple leaves the loudest announcements: iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad Pro and, perhaps, something completely new.

Which iPhone will Apple show this time

Since 2017, Apple has presented three smartphones at the September presentation. This year, the company will almost certainly announce the iPhone XI, XI Max and XIR.

Insiders claim that the third generation of frameless Apple smartphones will keep the bangs. Perhaps it will decrease in size.

XI and XI Max models will receive Samsung OLED …

Aperture will not work with future versions of macOS.

Apple announced that its outdated photo editing application Aperture will not work in future versions of operating systems that will be released after macOS Mojave.

In the updated guide, Apple provides users with instructions for migrating Aperture libraries to a new Photo application for Mac or Adobe Lightroom Classic.

As you know, the company stopped developing Aperture in June 2014 and removed the software from the Mac App Store in April 2015 after the release of the Photo application for Mac. However, the application is compatible with macOS Mojave, and some users still continue to work with it.

Some media files created using old formats or codecs will not be compatible with future versions of macOS. In this regard, Apple has shared instructions for converting incompatible formats in applications iMovie, Final Cut Pro X and Motion.

Very powerful and wildly expensive: what you need to know about the new Mac Pro

On June 3, the non-annual conference for WWDC developers (actualapple.com has traditionally led the live broadcast) Apple announced a new Mac Pro – for the first time since 2013.

Unlike the previous model, which resembled an office bin in its shape, the new Mac Pro is assembled in a classic shape case. It feels continuity with respect to Mac Pro 2006 and PowerMac G5.

In a special video, Apple Design Director Johnny Ive talked about the main engineering solutions: a raised grille on the front panel with a special three-dimensional texture, a stainless steel frame and the ability to install wheels for transportation. The body can be disassembled in one simple motion – just turn the handle on top. Mac Pro is not prone to problems with overheating due to three large coolers and a large number of radiators.

What you need to know about macOS Catalina. First, we do not recommend downloading it yet.

June 3 Apple introduced
the next version of macOS is called Catalina (in honor of the resort island of Santa Catalina in California). Beta version for developers is already available. The final release will take place in the fall.

One of the key innovations of macOS Catalina is the Sidecar feature. It turns the iPad into an extra display. Previously, this had to use third-party solutions – for example, Duet Display worth 1,150 rubles. Now it is enough to have a tablet with iPadOS (another new WWDC) and a computer with macOS Catalina. Use case: edit images using the Apple Pencil on iPad, and all changes occur on the Mac screen.

Project Catalyst – allows developers to easily port iOS and iPadOS applications on Mac. This has long dreamed of developers. For magic to happen, simply tick the appropriate menu …
