Ming-Chi Kuo has significantly reduced its forecast for iPhone shipments in the next quarter

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that sales of Apple smartphones in the next year will be reduced by 10% due to low demand for the iPhone XS and XR.

According to analysts, in the 1st quarter of 2019 sales will be from 38 to 42 million units, which is 20% less compared to the same period in 2018 (it sold 50 million iPhones).

It’s worth noting that Kuo has provided a forecast for the calendar quarterly period from January to March 2019. This means that the financial report, Apple will be different, as they are based on a fiscal quarter which covers the festive period from October to December 2018.

Ming-Chi Kuo expects total iPhone shipments in 2018 will reach 210 million. He also predicts sales from a low of 188 to 194 million units in 2019, implying a decline by 5-10%.

According to Kuo, a higher proportion of old iPhone models (such as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8) in the market cannot compensate for weak iPhone sales iPhone XS and XR.

Lately Apple has a policy of aggressive marketing for the growth of iPhone sales in 2018, which in turn confirms the low demand for new items.
