16-inch MacBook Pro can get a keyboard with a new mechanism
Apple plans to use the scissors mechanism instead of the butterfly in the 16-inch MacBook Pro's keyboard, according to TFI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Apple’s 16-inch laptop is due for release in the fourth quarter of 2019. The keyboard with which it will be equipped, then will be installed in all new MacBooks.
Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the new scissor mechanism is safer than the butterfly.
MacBook keyboard problems have been haunting Apple since 2015, when it first began using a new type of mechanism. Dust and small debris cause key sticking, duplication or skipping of characters. For almost all laptops with a butterfly, a free keyboard repair program is available.
