Nintendo wants to revive the Game Boy, turning the smartphone into the console

For many years various manufacturers have released cases for smartphones c the likeness of the legendary console Game Boy. Recently, Nintendo has filed a patent application which describes a phone case that turns the device into a fully functional portable console.

First reported by website Siliconera. In the patent application present a folio case with a cutout for the display and buttons of the original console Game Boy D – pad, A, B, Start and Select. In addition, in case there is an additional cutout for the front camera of the smartphone. Probably, Nintendo is planning to revive one of the options – the Game Boy Camera.

It is also expected that Nintendo will release an official companion app for the Game Boy case, which will be presented with a list of available games.
