Apple Watch left everyone far behind

On yesterday the conference devoted to results of last quarter, Apple CEO Tim cook proudly stated that the last three months of 2016 was a record for Apple Watch. Specific data it is, however, not called (as usual), but this has not prevented analysts themselves to calculate how much the company sold smart watches. And the result was quite unexpected.

In a report from Strategy Analytics noted that Apple sold 5.2 million Apple Watch in the last quarter — more than anyone ever. This has enabled the technology giant to win more than 60% of the global smartwatch market, leaving all competitors far behind.

Detachment from the same incredible Samsung: the South Korean company only sold 800 thousand of its smart watch, which is almost two times less than in 2015. The others — Garmin, Fitbit, Huawei, settle for the total supply of 2.2 million units.

Experts note that such impressive sales, Apple managed to achieve with the release of the second generation of smart watches and new year holidays, as many gave Apple Watch to your friends and relatives. In Russia, by the way, the situation was exactly the same: the Apple Watch has become one of the most popular gifts.

In 2016, Apple sold 11.6 million smart watches. Other manufacturers in the world has shipped just over 21 million such accessories.
